Since Hillary first made a public splash and a lot of political enemies by stepping up to the plate and swinging her clout as First Lady at the subject of decent health care for all Americans regardless of their insured status, I have watched this human dynamo work her way through some pretty gnarly personal attacks and political sabotage attempts, and I must say, I have been most impressed. She has exhibited the courage and steadfast determination that have made her an instant success with America’s women and workers, and she has weathered the storms created by those who wanted her and her hubby out of office and out of the political arena. She has seen both sides of the political fence, having begun her career as a Republican, and having had the good sense to realize that being a Democrat allowed her to think and act on a more human note without having to put party politics first. Hillary is not going to run and hide at the first sign of a fight. She has managed to come out of many a fracus and personal assault with dignity and strength, and I believe that she would stand fast on what the country wants, rather than on what her personal political agenda wants. It’s high time for a change of mind in Washington, and it’s time someone stepped up to the plate who is going to bat for all Americans, not just the few and the very wealthy.

I agree, Senator was on the board of Walmart but she wasbeing paid anns a lawyer for $17,000.00 per year. It was right after she got married. She’s the one that sponsored the Fair Labor bill to increase minimum wage along with each pay raise that Congress gets. She’s the one that sponsored the Health programs for children in the schools.
She passed legislation to bring more qualified teachers to the classroom and more outstanding principals. She championed legislation to bring us Broadband Internet access..It was her legislation that help schools address environmental hazards such as asbestos. She modernized FHA to meet housing needs. She is the orignal sponsor of legislation that expanded health coverage for our National Guard and Reserves. She not only cares about families but, she actually does something. There are many more bills and amendements you can look up at The Congressional Library. I just can’t remember all of them. I know she is the best candidate for me. She was the first candidate that said NAFTA needed to be renegotiated because it wasn’t good for America Obam said he would too, but then he told the Canadians he was just talking politics. .

A week or so ago I was watching Bill Moyers. The union president he was interviewing alluded to working to achieve a more cooperative relationship with corporate America. He said The New Deal is a thing of the past.

Since the first keystone was laid in the first pyramid in ancient Egypt bosses have been doing what they have been doing. They have found ways to maximize their interests even if it meant exploiting workers. Why would anyone believe that that will change in 2007? Will employers flock to labor and confess greediness and in effect say, “We see the error of our ways. Here is the pie. We’ve been hogging it. C’mon, take a bigger slice. You deserve it. We want to be fair” ?

If one believes that will happen after thousands of years of experience to the contrary, then the saying, “There’s a sucker born every minute” has some truth in it.

Hillary was a Goldwater Republican before her “conversion” to what now passes (at least for some) to Democrat. She sat on the Board of Directors of anti-union Wal-Mart. She voted for the war. One of her PR people (Mark Penn) works for a public relations firm - Burson-Marsteller - that hires out to corporations to show them how to block union organizing drives. Her Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) health care proposal actually endorses former Republican Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist’s scheme to insure the wealthiest first. In time, dear people, health care coverage may “trickle-down” to you. (Go to the DLC website and click on what is called the “Progressive Policy Institute” link to read more.) Her record on phony trade agreements is decidedly not worker friendly.

The New Deal isn’t a thing of the past. It has not out-lived its time. It was sold, piece by piece by successive sessions of Congress. It was purchased by corporate America. The New Deal is not dead! Just because it was stolen and then pawned to the highest-bidder doesn’t mean it is dead. All that it means is that the majority in Congress (over 85%) do not identify themselves as “blue collar Americans”, and are thus doing the bidding of the corporations they look to for huge campaign donations. Hillary is no exception.

What workers must demand is a return to New Deal principles. What workers do not need is for self-proclaimed spokespeople for labor saying the New Deal is a thing of the past.

    Hillary? Nope!

I am deeply embarrassed, disgusted and angered that the so-called “Executive Council” of one of the unions that I am a member of (Am. Fed. of Teachers) has “endorsed” Ms. Clinton. She is from an affluent background, has never know what it is like to work for a living, what it is like to wonder how she will pay the rent to keep a roof over her child’s head, etc. She was on the Board of Directors of Wal-Mart Corp.! That, in-and-of-itself should automatically disqualify her from getting the support of ANY union member, much less the “officials” of a union “endorse” her (i put officials in quotes as non of them have been directly elected by the members that they purport to represent.

Ms. Clinton is a political hack! In her answers to the questions on this webpage she refers to “middle” class when she, in fact, is referring to working class. How stupid is that?

How can any union member or any class-conscious worker vote for any “Democrat” for that matter? They have sold us out over and over again! When will we wake up?

Wade that last comment was for you not Frannie, but here is somet* WHAT HILLARY SAID ABOUT THE RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE FORCE AGAINST IRAQ
October 10, 2002: Floor Speech of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on S.J. Res. 45: “My vote is not, however, a vote for any new doctrine of pre-emption, or for uni-lateralism, or for the arrogance of American power or purpose — all of which carry grave dangers for our nation, for the rule of international law and for the peace and security of people throughout the world. …I urge the President to spare no effort to secure a clear, unambiguous demand by the United Nations for unlimited inspections. …A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort.”
      This was her vote .
