Lightning Round Strikes

by Payson Schwin, Aug 7, 2007

The questions were flying fast and furiously during the lightning round.

The first question: lobbying. Former Sen. John Edwards and Sen. Barack Obama touted the fact that they don’t accept donations from registered lobbyists.

Sen. Joe Biden was asked about considering hiring a Republican for cabinet positions. He said he would because he wants to bring the country together and hire the best people for the job.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton called for a person to report directly to the president about rebuilding New Orleans. She said the destruction from Katrina was “an American problem, not just a Louisana problem.”

Keith Olbermann finished the debate with a question about the length of the presidential campaign. “Campaigns last too long, and they cost too much money,” Sen. Obama said.
