McCain Evades South Florida Union Members |

John McCain showed up in Miami yesterday for a speech, and southern Florida workers came out to challenge him to address the issues that matter to working families.
The McCain event attracted 35 union members, who asked the Republican presidential candidate for answers on health care, Social Security and trade.
Unfortunately, just like the last time McCain had a chance to talk to Florida union members, he ignored them—and their real concerns. McCain claimed people think the country is on the wrong track because the Colombia Free Trade Agreement didn’t pass.
Fred Frost, president of the South Florida AFL-CIO, said McCain’s comments on Columbia were particularly striking, because they showed that McCain’s priorities don’t match up with those of working families.
It’s all about corporate profits. It’s immoral what they do to the working people over there.
As long as McCain pays more attention to lobbyists than to working families, he’ll keep being confronted on his record and his rhetoric. McCain needs to change course and propose solutions that really turn around America.

An Editorial recently ran in the Orlando Sentinental espousing the same rhetoric that McCain has been about why the FTA with Colombia should be passed.

McCain and all those believing in the FTA should read the seven responses to the editorial. Note that not one responder agreed with it. McCain and the others need to stop talking and listen to the people, the real people, the working people that made America great.
