Sgt. Kimberly Munley is a bona fide hero, having risked her life to stop the alleged gunman who killed 13 people and injured 30 at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 5. Munley shot the alleged assailant, Maj. Nidal Hasan, four times, despite being shot herself. She currently is recovering from her injuries and is in stable condition.

Now her union, AFGE, has set up a site where you can send your best wishes to Sgt. Munley. Just click here and compose a message to her.  Your messages will be collected and AFGE will deliver the messages to Munley on Friday, Nov. 20.

Munley, 34, is a member of AFGE Local 1920 and the mother of a three-year-old. She and her partner were the first to arrive at the Soldier Readiness Center, where Hasan allegedly opened fire.

AFGE President John Gage said Munley “acted with great heroism.”

Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, commanding general at Fort Hood, told CNN that Munley’s actions stopped Hasan cold and saved lives. He said Munley is a “trained, active first responder” who acted quickly after she “just happened to encounter the gunman.”

    Dear Sgt. Munley,
I want to thank you for your bravery! You will possibly be talking to President Obama who will thank you also. In your conversation with him please tell him that the American people have had enough of these Bush/Cheney hate wars and we want him to stop these wars today! The likes of Mccain, Cheney, Bush, and the rest of the GOP want these wars so badly have them pack their bags and send them all to Afghanistan & Iraq! I could see very well why this guy flipped out, the pressure is too much!
    Sincerely,
    Tom Matarrese

Well, that day arrived, and you acquitted yourself with courage and honor.

You awe me! I wish I had even half of your bravery. It is people like you who keep me proud of our Veterans and the incredible choice they made to secure our homeland. You are the reminder to our public of who we are, as employees and UNION members…Never forget our loyalty, patriotism, and personal ethics. We are, by far, the most dedicated employees anyone could ever be so fortunate to employ.

Dear Kimberly, Thank you so much for putting an end to a tragedy which may well have escalated into even more violence. There was nothing else you could do. This was an act of bravery against yet another person out of control with a gun. Please help Brady & others to better control the distribution of weapons which serve no other purpose than to injure or kill. I hope you recover soon. roy
