Americans don't know what they want because they are confused by the media's deliberate obfuscation campaign. One thing is for sure - they justifiably hate insurance companies, especially health insurance companies that charge an arm and a leg, and deny coverage while making billions for a handful of legal thieves. We want to and need to hang those billionaires in the village square. The reason why so many people oppose this legislation is that it insures not health care, but the profits of the insurance companies, pretending they are essential while in reality, their very existence is the problem. It shores them up at the very time that we should throw them on history's scrap heap, along with child labor and slavery.
No one even talks about getting rid of the anti-trust exclusion that the 'health' insurance companies' lobbyists bribed both parties' politicians into voting in long ago. We need private health insurance like a fish needs a bicycle.

I know many out there have health problems, or sick children, or invalid family members, but I cannot, will not back anything except HR 676, or at the very least legislation that allows local governments to create a HR 676 like system of their own without paying a "penalty." (And doesn't block high potency natural supplements) I'm not puting any money in any insurence plan unless it covers strictly lacerations, fractures, major burns, and cancer, I'm not taking pharmaceuticals, ever, and in the rare occurence I need to go in for a physical or something, I'll pay for that myself, no co-pay.
See I'm not shoving disgusting things down my gullet at all times like high fructose corn syrup, beer, pharmaceuticals or inhaling cigarettes. And I don't take meds everytime I have some pain from working, or cough or get the sniffles, because these things are normal, and aren't supposed to be treated with foriegn substances. So I don't want to pay up to 1/2 my pay check to a corporate entity that shouldn't exist in the first place.
For people who don't know- guess were blue cross blue shield came from...Canada. They came down here when Canada shut down the "need" for health insurence companies up there. (note: there economy seemed to last through it just fine)
Stop the delay fest, pass a real public option not some bull-**** healthcare rights bill to appease neo-liberal morons, and pass the damn Employee Free Choice Act already. NOW!!!

I would add to the above comments, that federation leadership too frequently is backing the wrong horse when it comes to health care reform. Case is point is the over $40000 given by AFL-CIO unions to Thad McCotter in MI-11. He got another $30k from non-federation unions. He is a private-school educated tool of the ruling class, totally opposed to any health care changes that would cut into the profits of private insurance companies or help the uninsured. On other working-class issues he is just as bad. Why should he get a single penny of union money? If the unions want to put their money where their mouth is, they should be supporting his Democratic opponent, Natalie Mosher, who would be a 100% pro-union, pro-worker legislator. Which side are you on?

California isn't the only state Wellpoint raised individuals health insurance rate so much. The other day my self-employed tax prepared said his notice included a 40% rate increase. Only after he adjusted his "out of pocket" from 5000 the 10000 annually did he get a rate he could afford.

Its criminal and the currnt legislation doesn't come close to addressing the insurance industries stranglehold on health care access.

Universal Medicare for All! If not the movement loses more membership cause they can't solve it at the bargaining table.

AMERICANS AND UNION MEMBERS , THIS IS THE MOST SIMPLIST THING TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT !

FIRST WE NEED TO TELL THE UNION LEADERSHIP WHAT WE WANT AND WHAT WE NEED , THEY HAVE FAILED THE LAST 30 YEARS ON MEMBERSHIP NEEDS

THE HEATH CARE SHOULD BE TRASHED 100% , START OVER LETS HAVE SOME HONESTY , TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY BY THE CONTROLED CONGRESS AND THE U S SENATE THE LAST 3 YEARS , WHICH HAS BROUGHT US TO THIS DEPRESSION !

WE NEED TO KNOW WHY , NUKE ENERGY WAS NOT FROM THE FIRST DAY IN OFFICE WAS NOT GIVEN 2 TRILLION DOLLARS FOR OUR ENERGY INDEPENDENCY ?

WE USE 30 MILLION BARRELS OF OIL A DAY FOR AMERICA AND WE CAN ONLY PRODUCE 2 MILLION BARRELS ALONE , SO 28 MILLION BARRELS HAVE TO COME FROM SOME WHERE IN THE WORLD EVER DAY , ABOUT 60% IS USED FOR ENERGY , WE NEED TO CHANGE THAT . LOOK AT ALL THE MONEY THAT GOES OVER SEAS EACH DAY , BILLIONS , WE NO LONGER HAVE THE MONEY AT HOME WORKING FOR AMERICANS AND CREATING JOBS , WE HAVE BECOME A CONSUMER SERVICE SOCIETY .

THERE OUR ABOUT 1300 INSURANCE COMPANYS IN AMERICA , WE NEED ALL INSURANCE COMPANYS TO DEAL IN ALL 50 STATES TO COMPETE FOR FAIR PRICES , WHATS DRIVING THE COST OF INSURANCE IN SOME AREAS IS THAT ILLEGALS AND OTHERS DONT PAY FOR HOSPITAL SERVICES AND MEDICAL SERVICES , WEITHER THEY USE PHONY NAMES OR ID'S , WE KNOW THEY SYSTEM .

WE NEED TO TELL CONGRESS TO MAKE LAWS ON INSURANCE COMPANYS AND BE FAIR TO ALL AMERICANS , WE NEED TO REGULATE INSURANCE COMAPNYS AND AMA HOSPITAL GROUPS FOR FAIR PRICES AND THE SAME WITH PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANYS WITH FAIR PRICES AS GROUPS OR GOVERNMENT SALES AS BIG GROUPS OF QUANTITY , AND HAVE U S SENATE MEMBERS VOTE AMERICAN !

WHAT THE PROBLEM IN AMERICA IS , THAT THERE IS TO MANY LOBBYIST ABOUT 35,000 REGISTERED LABBYIST IN WASHINGTON , WHICH IS ABOUT 65 FOR EACH CONGRESS PERSON AND U S SENATOR , HOW CAN AMERICANS GET A FAIR DEAL ? THERE NOT THERE FOR US , WAKE UP AMERICA , WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY COME FROM FOR THERE RE-ELECTION , HELLO? ....

WE NEED TO STAND UP AND TAKE AMERICA BACK , IF ALL AMERICANS DID THIS WE WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEMS WE OUR FACING ! FIRST WE NEED TO CALL OUR CONGRESS PERSON AND U S SENATOR ALONG WITH STATE LEGISLATORS , KNOW YOUR LEGISLATORS FOR YOU AREA , FIND THEM ON LINE IN THE SEARCH IF YOU DONT KNOW THEM , CALL THEM TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT , NOT WHAT THEY WANT , TELL THEM YOU WILL VOTE THEM OUT OFFICE , THIS YEAR ALL OF CONGRESS WILL BE UP FOR ELECTION AND 1/3 OF THE U S SENATE , SO LETS GET GOING TIME IS RUUNING OUT FOR REAL CHANGE IN AMERICA ,

WE NEED TO TAK STEEPS FOR CHANGE WE ALL NEED TO GET ON THE SAME PAGE AND PLACE AND WALK TOGETHER IN THE SAME DIRECTION AND THE SAME MIND SET LIKE WE DID YEARS BACK , WE NEED TO VOTE OUT CANCER AND CORRUPTION FOR REAL CHANGE IN AMERICA ,

WLhat we need is FREE nationalized health care under workers control(i.e.: nurses, maintenance, administrative staff and those doctors ready to accept workers rule). Any thought of reform under decaying capitalism is to reject responsibility for our futures and our children's and grandchildren's future. With what this government spends on the military, police and servicing the debt (i.e. paying the banks and other parisities) we could have free health care and homes for everyone but capitalism works on the profit motive and nothing else matters to them. If that means throwing millions under the bus to cut taxes so be it. Capitalism can no longer provide for our security, health, childrends education and decent paying jobs for all that want them. It is time it was replaced with the only people capable of replacing and that is the collective working class that produces all the wealth.

YOU MISUNDERSTAND. I AGREE THAT WE NEED HEALTH CARE REFORM. I JUST DON'T AGREE TO PASS A LAW THAT EVERYONE MUST BUY HEALTH CARE OR BE CRIMINALLY
PENALIZED. OVER TIME, SUBSIDIES WILL DIMINISH OR BE ELIMINATED AND THAT WILL HAPPEN WITH CERTAINTY WITH A CHANGE OF ADMINISTRATION.

AGAIN, WE NEED UNIVERSAL SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE WHERE THE PROFIT IS REMOVED AND NOT MADE ON THE BACKS OF PEOPLE IN DIRE NEED OF SAME. IT IS DEPLORABLE AND IMMORAL. THE PRESENT HEALTH CARE SOLUTION WAS WRITTEN BY THE LOBBISTS AND STILL MANDATES PURCHASE OF PLANS FROM THE WEALTHIEST INDIVIDUALS
AND CORPORATIONS IN THE WORLD AND LEAVES THE PROFIT IN THE SYSTEM AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHER PEOPLE'S MISERY.

I CAUTION YOU TO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU MAY BE SORRY FOR PASSING LATER.

THE PROPOSED REFORM IS A DOG AND PONY SHOW AND IT IS THE PLAN THAT WAS PLANNED BY BOTH PARTIES OR THE PARTIES OF WEALTHY TO PASS ALL ALONG. BE CAREFUL OF
THE DOG AND PONY SHOW YOU SEE ON TV, BEHIND THE SCENES BOTH PARTIES WANTED A MANDATED HAVE TO BUY INSURANCE AND THE CRIMINALIZATION OF POVERTY.

The conclusion to this article is outrageous!

To reject Obama"s corrupt "Health Care Reform" legislation is not "doing nothing". Obama and the Democrats have been frantically trying to ram this corrupt legislation through Congress ever since being elected with millions in campaign contributions from the drug and insurance companies. Obama received 3 times the "contributions" than McCain. The chairman of the Senate committee that held initial hearings on this legislation, who was supplied with campaign contributions, kept "Medicare for All" proposals "off the table".
Even delegates to the AFL-CIO September Pittsburgh convention, which voted Trumka into office, unanimously voted to support "single-payer" Medicare for All legislation. Over 500 union locals voted in support ot Medicare for All legislation.
And yet President Trumka and the AFL-CIO is spending millions of dollars and countless hours in supporting this "Health Care Reform" that will greatly expand corporate profits and even force some 30 million working people to buy insurance from these crooks.
The "Health Care Reform" , to prevent further trillion dollar deficts (originally cause by banking "bail outs" and undending wars), is going to massive attack and destroy Medicare and Social Security. The "Reform" will not cover tens of millions of non-citizen working people. Most incredibly, this "Health Care Reform" will not limit corporate profiteering and implement serious regulation.
The costs to society of the "Health Care Reform" will be at least twice what "Medicare for All" (which completely eliminates parasitic corporate profiteering)
would cost.
The Obama administration foreign and domestic agenda is a continuation of the wildest dreams Bush and Cheney. The agenda is to maximize the wealth and profit of the wealthiest individuals and corporations.
What are the practical consequences to working people of everything that Obama and the Democrats corporate agenda?
       * Trillion dollar "bailouts" to gangster banks, Wall Street.
       * War and militarism are continued and expanded to the profit of the military-industrial complex.
       * "Health Care Reform" to increase profit to murderous corporations.
       * Public education is being destroyed nationwide to minimize the taxation essential to fund public education. All taxes diminish individual wealth and corporate profit.
      * Capitalist globalization that has moved millions of jobs out of the U.S. to countries where "slave-wage" conditions exist. These jobs will not come back until the U.S. working people are reduced to economic status of a third-world
country.

Working people know how and why they are being destroyed. The AFL-CIO leadership, in supporting Obama's Health Care Reform, remains the "business partner" to corporate capitalism.

This great United States of America was built by generations of working people, not corporate capitalists. Living wage jobs, free public education, affordable health care for all, are all essential aspects of life that the bankrupt capitalist economy, driven by anti-human corporate greed, can no longer provide.
From this corrupt and bankrupt capitalist economy towards a socialist economy that works to fill the needs of the vast majority is essential for the survival of humanity.

The conclusion to this article is outrageous!

To reject Obama”s corrupt “Health Care Reform” legislation is not “doing nothing”. Obama and the Democrats have been frantically trying to ram this corrupt legislation through Congress ever since being elected with millions in campaign contributions from the drug and insurance companies. Obama received 3 times the “contributions” than McCain. The chairman of the Senate committee that held initial hearings on this legislation, who was supplied with campaign contributions, kept “Medicare for All” proposals “off the table”.
Even delegates to the AFL-CIO September Pittsburgh convention, which voted Trumka into office, unanimously voted to support “single-payer” Medicare for All legislation. Over 500 union locals voted in support ot Medicare for All legislation.
And yet President Trumka and the AFL-CIO is spending millions of dollars and countless hours in supporting this “Health Care Reform” that will greatly expand corporate profits and even force some 30 million working people to buy insurance from these crooks.
The “Health Care Reform” , to prevent further trillion dollar deficts (originally cause by banking “bail outs” and undending wars), is going to massive attack and destroy Medicare and Social Security. The “Reform” will not cover tens of millions of non-citizen working people. Most incredibly, this “Health Care Reform” will not limit corporate profiteering and implement serious regulation.
The costs to society of the “Health Care Reform” will be at least twice what “Medicare for All” (which completely eliminates parasitic corporate profiteering)
* Trillion dollar “bailouts” to gangster banks, Wall Street.
* War and militarism are continued and expanded to the profit of the military-industrial complex.
* “Health Care Reform” to increase profit to murderous corporations.
* Public education is being destroyed nationwide to minimize the taxation essential to fund public education. All taxes diminish individual wealth and corporate profit.
* Capitalist globalization that has moved millions of jobs out of the U.S. to countries where “slave-wage” conditions exist. These jobs will not come back until the U.S. working people are reduced to economic status of a third-world
country.

Working people know how and why they are being destroyed. The AFL-CIO leadership, in supporting Obama’s Health Care Reform, remains the “business partner” to corporate capitalism.

Bring back regulation! The insurance companies need to be told they can't deny coverage based on preexisting conditions, they can't drop customers just because they get sick and they can't arbitrarily raise premiums. All this could be accomplished through regulation. Why should it take a two to three thousand page bill costing a trillion dollars and creating a hundred new bureaucracies to make that happen? Put very simply (IMO), IT SHOULDN'T!
