Nurses to Whitman: ‘Women Vote for Women Who Vote!’

More than 1,500 people, including many women in early 20th century fashion, marched and rallied in Sacramento yesterday to mark the 90th anniversary of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution that gave women the right to vote.
The rally, sponsored by the California Nurses Association (CNA), also spotlighted how Republican gubernatorial candidate, billionaire CEO Meg Whitman, hasn’t exercised that right during most of her adult life. She has admitted her voting history is “atrocious.”
Susan Segal, a nurse at Oakland Children’s Hospital, told the San Francisco Chronicle:
Not only did she not bother to vote, but then she has the chutzpah to want us to vote for her.
Many in the crowd carried signs that read “Women Vote for Women Who Vote.”
CNA Executive Director Rose Ann DeMoro told crowd that Whitman is “precisely the opposite of the leaders of the suffragist movement.”
This woman has such contempt for working people, and you know what? It’s mutual. We’re here to celebrate the suffragettes and to expose a hypocrite who didn’t bother to vote.
Whitman has spent more than $100 million of her own money on the campaign so far. For more on Whitman and her attempt to buy the governor’s office and impose a corporate agenda on California, click here, here and here.

I am not sure I understand why it is a new qualification for election that someone must have voted.
We need good leaders and someone who has actually run and succeeded at a great business like eBay may be the right person to take California out of its doldrums.
Meg Whitman competed in sports, ran a successful company and was recruited from across the country to run eBay when it was tiny. eBay is a great company who has allowed many thousands of Americans to make a livelihood from their home. She had to deal with many tough issues, expand internationally, cooperate with exisitng brick and mortar stores and run a fast growing enterprise. By all accounts she has succeeded amazingly.
My gosh. She was running a big company in a state she had just moved to, raising a family and volunteering for charities and boards, and the best you can do is trash her for not voting. Females have it tough enough with dual responsibilities of families and a job – the fact that she is now giving back to society and running for office and spending her money to do so should be lauded! Please confine your attacks to the issues that are in play – her personal life and how she balanced it and her job and family in a new state is a very low blow – especially by women!
She has a lot more qualifications than someone who was a great actor.
We need strong leaders. California is in such deep trouble that I want someone who can set priorities and make decisions. She is experienced, moral and principled. She has my support!
Plus – have you seen her opponent? He is rather old, unfocused and incoherent. He may have been cool once because he dated Linda Rhonstadt and was funky when everyone was getting high – but we need a sharp-elbowed alert leader!
Just because someone is a Democrat does not mean they are good for government. Similarly, just because someone is a Republican does not mean she is bad.
The days of BUYING Government and becoming those Representatives are coming back! How can this Woman? spend
100 million to be in the Governor’s Race and how can McCain
spend 50 million of his? own money to get in the Senate Race
in Arizona? Is it their own money? How did a thin broke man get
50 million to spend on a Primary Election? Things must be very
GOOD when you get into American Government?? Tell 14 MILLION
OUT OF WORK AMERICANS not to eat too much tonight!
Meg Whitman is insane if she thinks she is going to win. She didn’t care enough about our state to vote for 28 years, she speaks out of both sides of her mouth and she is trying to buy the Governorship. It is disgusting how he is spending over half a million a day. Every two hours she spends the equivalent of one hard working Americans job on her propaganda. There is a good video that people in LA made about it here… http://goo.gl/iBVm
Meg Whitman, not voting in 28 years, Incredible! Being defeated by Jerry Brown big time. Priceless!
