Ohio’s Kasich has Long Record as Job Killer
![]() |
|
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich wants to outsource and privatize state government jobs (click here for more from Labor 2010 in Ohio). While he was in Congress, Kasich voted to send tens of thousands American jobs overseas.
Kasich voted for NAFTA and trade deals with China that, according to the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), cost more than 140,000 Ohio jobs. But when Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland was in Congress, he voted to no on those bills because as he said: “I felt they take jobs out of Ohio and America.”
Just as devastating to the workers who saw their jobs outsourced, Kasich, while a member of the board of directors at Invacare, signed off in 2006 on sending 225 Elyria jobs to China and Mexico.

President Clinton signed NAFTA. Set the record straight. He also balanced the budget due to republican control of congress. I caught that llie at my Union meeting with Sherrod Brown who also lied about who passed NFTA. The fact is that every president signed the free trade agreements starting with Carter.
sweartopgod, if you remember Clinton blanced the budget only after he made the Republican congress do it by shuting down the government. If he had not called the Republicans bluff then there would have been no 300 billion dollar surplus for Bush to have squandered and turned into a trillon dollar defecient t for Obama. I believe that sets the record straight.
Sweartogod,
Stet it straight. NAFTA was the brainchild of GeorgE Bush Sr. He originated it and Clinton had no choice the Rethuglicans controled both house and would have overroad his veto. 2nd. it doesn’t even sound like a republican lover like you should be at any Union Meeting. I bet your the pride of your local, right rat!
I am for Unions Rat. They are necessary. It looks like we are losing the Unions because of a number of factors. foreign competition that does it cheaper for one thing. I do not have a solution for the problems. Protection does not work because they would retaliate. So rat if have solution lets hear it or forever shut your mouth.
