Boehner and Republicans: ‘Stop Picking on BP’

by Mike Hall, Sep 2, 2010

It’s no secret that House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and his colleagues are tight with their corporate chums. They even defend poor little old BP from the meanies working to hold the petroleum giant accountable for the Gulf oil spill.

One of Boehner’s trusted lieutenants, Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), even went so far as to claim the Obama administration’s efforts to persuade BP to establish a $20 billion recovery fund for Gulf Coast residents was a “shakedown.” How dare they pick on BP like that?

To remind voters in Boehner’s home district of his loving relationship with BP and Big Oil, our friends at Blue America have erected a second billboard, with our help and that of People For the American Way, that notes the golf-loving Boehner’s affection for BP is “Par for the Course.” Click here for more on Boehner and his golf jones.

Be sure to visit BeatBoehner.com, and click here to find out more about Justin Coussoule who is running with labor’s support to unseat Boehner in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District. He is a West Point graduate, a former Army captain, a lawyer and a small business owner.

Boehner’s so-called job creation strategy is to return to the Bush policies of tax cuts for the wealthy and Big Business and free rein on Wall Street. Tuesday in St. Louis, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka summed up Boehner’s jobs program.

His idea of job creation is to hire a second caddy.

Haven’t you heard that Obama and his administration are fighting hard to keep in place the tax cuts for the middle class? Are you really against higher taxes for the filthy rich, who are that way because of the blood, sweat and tears of the middle class? We are in a bind and everyone with the means has a duty to do their fair share to get us out of this mess. There is a far greater distance between the bottom and the top than at any time in our history. They’ve had their taxes lowered for the past 8 or so years and has it done us any good? We’re not improving as fast as we’d all like because the republican party is doing everything in it’s power to not let that happen until they get back into power so they can feel good about themselves.

Where are all the jobs, from the tax cuts that are in force now?. They were enacted during President Bushs presidency, and we kept losing jobs by the millions, and still are .The only jobs your fat cat friends are going to produce are in China and India and other countries like that.

The citizens of one election district in Ohio elected Boehner. I wonder why it is , that he only seems to represent BP and big business etc, over average ordinary Americans , who he is supposed to represent. They are the voters , who elected him,.

This Golfer Boehner is nothing more than a Mouth Piece for Big Business and the Republican Party. All you people out there who lives and breathes Republican will be losing your car’s, houses, and businesses if the Republicans win the house and senate this fall. May God help this from happening. This country can ill efford another term with the Say No Party at the stern. Knowing the History of this country with Politics they never seem to learn their lesson. So, if it happens we will need to abide our patients for a couple of years and then throw the Bums out.
