Fox Spends Labor Day Attacking Working People
Most people celebrate working people on Labor Day. But not the extremists on Fox News. There, hate-mongering never takes a day off.
Here are a few ugly examples of Fox from our friends at Media Matters for America:
- Tucker Carlson attacks autoworkers.
- Glenn Beck assails an 80-year-old labor activist because she spoke at a high school.
- Stuart Varney criticizes a union-backed Securities and Exchange Commission rule that would allow more shareholders of public companies to use proxy votes to nominate board members.
Clearly Fox opposes opening up the election process to shareholders who have a financial stake in a company because it would mean less chance for corporate greed and mismanagement.
Meanwhile, the anti-worker crowd doesn’t like being called out by Media Matters. So what do they do—they resort to thuggish suggestions of violence, saying Media Matters employees should be “curb-stomped.”

So much for their “Fox News–Fair and balanced, you decide” claim. One of my favorite radio stations is a Fox affiliate; hate it.
Does that mean that all the other TV networks are towing the party line? It must be because no ever says anything about them. How about one TV station bothering the big AFLCIO. Man just ignore them and watch the other networks who say what you want to hear.
I must say again, it is scary that Fox has viewers who are actually ignorant enough to seriously listen to Glenn Beck – unbelievable. I sometimes check out Fox to know what their puppets are spewing. It is very maddening though.
There is not one TV station saying what I want to hear, and what workers need to hear. Fox is the most openly anti-Labor, which is why sweartogod likes it, because he is anti-Labor, even though he would deny it. No, all of the stations are owned by the rich, there is no AFL-CIO network. Of course, the non-FOX stations say nice things about workers on Labor Day – but it means nothing. They will still do everything possible to prevent their workers from exercising their right to form a union.
Labor Day itself is a cruel joke on the American Working Class. When workers in Chicago celebrated May Day, the cops came to shoot them. We have been denied May Day by the bosses, who call it ‘communist’. This is the workers holiday celebrated all over the world, except here, where it was invented. Instead, they gave us Labor Day, to convince us that we are somehow different or better than the more advanced workers of other countries.
Hey really are you suprised this is Fox just like Glen Beck and Rush . You don’t have to watch this crap or support any one that advertises with them , I don’t
I pray and hope to see the day that Fox Network Employees/Mouth pieces will be required to dig ditches and shovel Cow Manure to make their Mortgage Payments. Then by the name of God they will know what the working class people in this country is going through.
Glenn Beck Perverts Important US Proposal (final edit)
09/08/10
Glenn Beck claims to represent the interests of the American people. Witness his recent “Restoring Honor” rally. But does he really represent what he says he does? Many people have noticed, for example, that his broadcasts are heavily laced with advertising, especially for gold. The question is, what else are his claims and broadcasts laced with? You have to dig beneath the surface to find that out.
Everyone remembers the 2007/2008 financial meltdown, which led to the current recession, and for which Congress passed a reform package. Glenn has recently begun intensifying focus on Obama–but this takes attenion away from the fact that the meltdown started before Obama was even in office.

Here’s where things get unsettling. It turns out that the package passed by Congress is sketchy, according to one Republican Senator:
The bill’s many provisions don’t offer a quick remedy, however. Rather, they are a prescription for regulators to act. In many cases, the real impact of the legislation won’t be felt for at least two years. “We have no idea whether this bill is historical or not,” Corker said. “We won’t know for a long time, until the regulators decide what they’re going to do with this bill.”

Now, you may remember, as part of this package there was talk of reducing those large ATM fees charged by banks. Well, as you may have noticed, that never came to be. How surprising, given the banking lobbyists spent huge sums to influence Congress on the reform measures!
http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/hope-for-lower-atm-fees-dashed-in-senate/19483822/
But there were other measures like the ATM fee limit which also didn’t make it into law, also falling victim to the big-money lobbyists who run Congress. Some of those proposals included ways to reign in speculation by ultra-rich Wall Street derivatives speculators, big hedge funds, and others. This is the kind of speculation that led to the 2007/2008 meltdown and several previous ones:
“It was the deregulation of financial derivatives that brought the banking system to its knees.”
“Even before AIG, derivatives speculation had already led to the collapse of Barings Bank in 1995; the failure of hedge fund Long Term Capital Management (LTCM) in 1998; the Enron bankruptcy in 2001; and the collapse of investment bank Bear Stearns in 2008, a few months before AIG’s fall.”
http://www.finreg21.com/lombard-street/how-deregulating-derivatives-led-disaster-and-why-re-regulating-them-can-prevent-anot
Clearly, derivatives speculation has been hurting America for a long time, and in a big way…
Now here’s where it gets very interesting. It turns out, folks actually have several ways to reign in derivatives speculation by the ultra-rich types who were responsible for Enron, AIG, etc.–those who brought the country down. Of course, very few such provisions have made it into law, since big-money interests seem to win over in Congress. As a side note, an ethics investigation is being opened over lobbying activities surrounding the reform bill…
“A House ethics committee has told three U.S. House members they remain under investigation for their fund raising activities during a vote on financial reform.”

But, getting back to reigning in the ultra-rich speculators. The issue has shown up in the darnedest of places, presented in an extremely clever, blatently political way. Specifically, Glenn Beck is now mis-representing the issue on the home page of his new web site “The Blaze,” with a lead-in from his main web site.
To wit, there is a story running on the sites entitled “Glenn Beck: Key Obama Ally Pushes Socialist Global Tax.” The story uses highly-edited excerpts in order to pervert the impression of a proposal which would counter the forces which brought America down in recent crises. Specifically, the US-based AFL-CIO(and Institute for Policy Studies) is proposing a tax on ultra-rich Wall Street speculators (a proposal which never made it thru Congress). But Glenn’s story omits details, and gives the impression that this proposal somehow means the average American would be taxed (they won’t). Instead of taxing the average person or US corporation, this proposal targets those Wall Street traders who engage in the the type of risky trading which led to multiple, worldwide financial meltdowns. Yes, were talking about reigning in those Enron and AIG fiascos.
“The richest 10 percent still own more than 80 percent of the total value of stocks. And it is the wealthiest of the wealthy who are engaged in the type of high-frequency, high-risk trading that is the target of this tax.” So we’re talking about taxing some small fraction of 10 percent of the wealthy–those who engage in dangerous trading. Hardly the average American.

Note Glenn’s “story” ties in Obama–because he has met with the AFL-CIO leader, who in turn has met with European Socialist leaders. Glenn uses the hot-button words “socialist global tax” to scare people. Now, the question is, how can a tax be “socialist” more than any other? The money generated could be used to pay teachers, or anything–just like other taxes. As for the “global” nature of the tax, his use of the word is extremely misleading. The tax would be like any other, passed by the US Congress. The fact that other countries also protect their financial markets would make it “global.” Glenn, what’s wrong with protecting world financial markets against another meltdown? What’s wrong with taxing those ultra-rich who would hurt America? Seems to me Glenn is fusing together video clips and words (and an unpopular Obama) to provoke emotion and get attention. What’s most outrageous is Glenn never details the tax (barely even mentioning who it applies to), nor does he make any connection to Enron, AIG, or the financial meltdown(s)! That’s right, Glenn never mentions any of it. Glenn doesn’t care about major issues which have hurt our country and cost us a bundle. In fact, he’ll mislead people surrounding these issues. It’s astonishing. Look at it for yourself, and make sure to click on the embedded link, near the top of the article.

Glenn is a very clever fraud. It makes me wonder about all the other claims he has made, and who is backing him. Could it be the same big money which controls Congress? There should be outrage at what Glenn has done, with his perversion of an important proposal to protect the American financial system. There is nothing honorable about how Glenn represents the interests of the ultra-rich, especially those which brought our country to its knees. Everyone who is sensible and knows about the finances of America agrees that you need to get money from somewhere while also reducing spending. Glenn points fingers left and right, saying “socialism”…but maybe that only comes from the perspective of a rich aristocrat–Glenn made 32 million dollars last year.
This proves it is not fair & unbalenced. Yet, it has union people working for them. Go figure
