Three Wis. Republican Senators Face Recall July 12

by James Parks, May 23, 2011

After an unprecedented mass petition effort by unions and religious and community groups, three of the Republicans who steamrolled Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s bill to eliminate collective bargaining rights for state employees into law in March will face recall votes on July 12.

The non-partisan Government Accountability Board today ordered recall votes for Republican state Sens. Dan Kapanke of La Crosse, Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac and Luther Olsen of Ripon. They are three of the six state legislators who working people are working to recall after they voted for legislation to take away public employees’ rights to bargain collectively.

Recall petitions also have been filed for Alberta Darling of River Hills, Shelia Harsdof of River Falls and  Robert Cowles of Green Bay. The board will review those petitions on May 31. Democrats need to win three seats to take control of the Senate.

Supporters of a recall needed about 15,000 signatures to secure recall elections for each senator. In each case, more than 21,000 signatures were gathered.

I am not religious but if there is a god, he certainly will side with the poor and downtrodden. If the meanies win you can pretty much believe that either there isno god or the god that eists doesn’t give a damn about us.

Will the same voters be the only ones able to vote in the special election? It should be. If you didn’t take the time and get off your butt to vote for your candidate during the regular election, you shouldn’t get to vote in the special one.
