Update: You Stopped the Attack! Act Now to Stop the Latest Attack on the NLRB

by James Parks, Sep 22, 2011

UPDATE: Senate voted 15-15 on the Graham amendment, meaning it’s now dead. Thanks to everyone who took action yesterday to cut short this attack on the NLRB.

and Shortly this afternoon, Senate Republicans will press forward with a political agenda that does the bidding of big corporations and leaves working people behind. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is pushing an extreme amendment to curb the ability of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to do its job.

Act now. Click here to find office phone numbers of swing senators and call them and urge them to vote “no” on the Graham amendment.

Graham’s amendment is part of the campaign by Republicans, tea party extremists and business groups to use a routine complaint the NLRB issued against the Boeing Co. in April as cover for their near hysterical and sweeping attacks on workers and the NLRB.

In April, the general counsel of the NLRB, an independent federal agency, issued a complaint against Boeing for moving a planned production line for its 787 Dreamliner from its unionized Puget Sound, Wash., plant to a facility in South Carolina. The complaint says the move was in retaliation against the Puget Sound workers for having previously exercised their federally guaranteed right to strike against Boeing and to prevent these workers from striking in the future.

AFL-CIO Legislation Director Bill Samuel says:

Senator Graham’s amendment is just more time wasted on playing partisan politics instead of creating good jobs. It’s time to put an end to the anti-worker agenda that’s bad for America and bad for the middle class and put the emphasis back on jobs to address the nation’s stalled economy.

AH-H-h-h-h-h… but Giveme, it is historically documented that the MAJORITY party of Democrats don’t vote unless THEY FEEL LIKE IT !!!! And worst of all, it was the 8-million Dumb-O-Crats who voted for BUSH in the 2004 election who enabled the Repugnicans to cover over the fact that they had tampered with the election system !!!!!!!!

There has never been fair and honest elections in the USA and there never will be as long as corporations can buy our government and reps.

It looks like 1000 jobs will not be created in South Carolina.

WOW Sweartogod I say GOOD. Now let Senator Graham explain to the people of Washington State why the scabs in a southern right to work for less state was so eager to steal their jobs. Kudoo’s to the NLRB. The reason the Republican’s hate the NLRB is because NOW it truly is an agency that is looking out for the worker’s of this country and everyone knows that only the business’s of this country matter to Republican’s. Their motto is “scew the worker’s.”

Lindsey Graham has been reelected several times. It is almost impossible to find a newspaper, radio station or TV station that will tell the truth about Senator Graham because they are all pro Republican. The only way to get Graham out of office is to do it by word of mouth and tell the truth as to what he is trying to do because the new media will not report anything that will weaken a fellow Republican. The republicans have ALWAYS gotten into office by misinforming voters and sometimes out right fabrication of the facts. They can’t get elected if they tell the truth – the truth is they want to kill Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, the want to get rid of unions, they are now trying to dumb down our schools and get rid of all programs that help the middle class. Their new agenda is to end use of all birth control pills and devices and of course ending abortion under any circumstances. Yet their argument is that the government is trying to take away your freedoms.

What they are pushing is replacing democracy with pure capitalism. VERY dangerous if you believe in our constitutional freedoms.

I do not believe that they are pushing capitalism, I believe they are pushing dictatorship and guess who will be king. They have declared war on our republic and most folks are either to ignorant or to cowardly to admit it is true.

You are right Suddencall, except that a republic is NOT a Democracy! It is a representative of the elite and it alway has been.
        .
But I think that Ande has it correct. Capitalism already owns our nation, with the blessing of Congress and the Supreme Court.

Lindsey Graham is still in office , because he is from South Carolina. They love him and Demint there. It’s almost impossibe for a Democrat to get elected there. It is probably the most anti union state in the U.S., and the people there seem to love it.
Democrats can’t even pick their own candidates in primaries , because republicans can run in them and vote in them. Where I come from , each party has their own primary and elects the candidates to represent their party.
As for 1000 jobs not being created in S. C. , just remember they are good union paying jobs being taken from Wash St. So there is not a gain of jobs. Just a loss of well paying jobs , where workers have a voice , that is being eliminated.
Workers don’t receive much protection in S.C.,which looks like the way the whole U.S. is headed.
