Republicans: No Time for Jobs, Attacks on Workers Come First
![]() |
In 2011 alone, anti-worker legislators in Congress have launched nearly 50 attacks on the National Labor Relations Board and the nation’s labor law—the National Labor Relations Act—according to a new report from American Rights at Work (ARAW).
The assaults on workers’ rights comes at a time when most Americans say jobs are the nation’s No. 1 priority.
ARAW’s Zoe Bridges-Curry breaks down the attacks by Republican lawmakers on workers and their unions:
They’ve introduced 24 bills and amendments; approved one continuing resolution; held eight hearings; and tied up the agency with eight threatening letters, four official requests for documents, and one subpoena—none of which created a single job. So it’s clear that their ultimate aim is to eliminate the rights and protections that ensure the 99 percent a fair shake in the workplace.

Certainly the attackers know all this. There must be a strategy available to us to make them confront their own evil uncivility in the public’s eyes!
We need to bring this Blog to the public’s eyes !!!
Mr Libris,The latest jobs report was released on Friday and makes clear what most of us already knew: the economy is on a slower path to recovery than most anticipated or expected. In spite of this reality, most people are still overlooking the truth more private sector jobs have been created just this year than during the entire eight years of the Bush administration and that is for the year 2010.
While the facts provide no comfort for those who are suffering, it is a reminder that we shouldn’t allow the teabaggers and Republicans to continue in distorting the truth and placing blame on the shoulders of the Obama administration. As much as they hate to hear it: the Democrats have been struggling to correct the mess left from eight years of Republican leadership.
Fact number 1.When Bush left office unemployment was at 7.7 and 3 years later it is 9%,so in reality there is a 1.3% change in the number under Obama.I realize the number is actually 16% now but that number was at 14.6 under bush.
Well, I did not expect it to do anything but get worse amid all of the propaganda that anything beneficial is happening to employment and commerce in our country.
Nothing will improve economic-wise and employment-wise until this issue of Globalized commerce and technology that unreasonably replaces workers in stead of technology being used to make workers be more efficient.
My U.S.-made fourteen year old Emmerson microwave just burned out on me, and I TRIED first looking locally and then on the internet for another U.S. made product to keep our employment and our commerce in our country. Primarily I was looking for another Emerson but it was the ONLY brand that was labled Made In China. All the other brands had NO country of manufacturing origin on it. Then I read that Sharp is GOING TO START manufacturing all of its European-market microwaves here in our USA, but the Sharp boxes have no manufacturing country of origin on them! Oh well, I would rather buy a microwave made by our Nihonjin friends in Japan than to the Chinese military factories. No such luck. The only Sharp microwaves I could find would fill up my entire counter! I even went to all of the thrift shops and appliance stores including Crowded Closet and Good Will, but they did not have any microwaves at all.
So, since at least Emerson was the ONLY honest product to ADMIT it is manufactured in China, I bought another Emerson because I need a microwave.
It is so sad in this United States of America that we HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CHOICES over buying U.S. or foreign-made products because we are in a commercial-communist sociey now where we are just suppposed to take what is available and keep our mouths shut and everyone buys at Mal-Wart to put family-owned businesses into bankruptcy!!!
Is it any wonder that the unemployment rate and the state of our economy is in such bad shape!
I may be returning my Emerson made-in-China microwave to K-Mart on Monday. I just learned of a tiny appliance dealer who sells Whirlpool and Amana products, and maybe I can either buy or order an Amana microwave. If I have to order it then I will be out of a microwave for another two weeks, but I will have the satisfaction of owning a US-made microwave! The name of the store in Iowa City is Foster Appliances and it is located at 1920 South Gilbert Street in Iowa City across the field and railroad tracks from Hyvee Market
Of all the trouble that a US natizen must go to in order to buy a genuine U.S. made product in this commercial-communist nation of United States of America !!!
Don’t be bamboozled! The economy is better than most think. We have high unemployment because we are all working harder and producing more. The Corps. know this as do the Feds. I work for a railroad and get all the skinny on carloads and tons hauled. They just keep going up, up, and away. I don’t like to sound as if I’m a conspiracy theorist but it is getting better and they do not want you to know. Corps will not hire as long as we are putting out this amazing output.
We have 16.2 % unemployment . That is counting part time workers and people who have given up. We have lost 8.2 million jobs since 2008. When was Obama elected? Oh thats right 2008. Oh My.
What is your point? Can you not read? I acknowledged the unemployment, and again corps. will not hire more because they are putting out just as much with the trimmed down workforce. Don’t be a idiot. Read first then do your homework.
Oh yes the day Obama was elected the unemployment went from 7.7 to 9.7 in one day. The facts are that and I say facts something the Repuplicans have overlooked for years. The crash was in the beginning stages, because of the Bush administrations out right war’s on the battle-field and the American worker. Only now are we starting to see the deadly consequences of his tax’s cuts. The sad thing is not even the rich wanted them. The tax system was working just fine. Yes there were some whining businesses. There will always be them. Man I dislike them. So Obama wins. Well instead lets get some jobs back here in America. The Republicans forget about jobs and there 4 year plan is not America. It is getting the President out in 2012. years away. Man they are a patriotic. And don’t say he this left wing socialist. I would have liked him to be more to left. Spending a lot more to get the economy going get money back in the hands of the people.
I am froeevr indebted to you for this information.
BRSinIL–Here he is once again,Mr. Dog Dick dumb, sweartogod. He’s eat up with the dumb ass. He’s been dumbed down by the Repiglikkons and Faux Nazi propoganda media. He seems to over look facts and spews the same ole bs that comes from Faux media talking heads. He must believe in a plutonomy government which is what the Repigs and Baggers are trying to get in place now for the rich and big corporations. A country’s economy run by the rich and corporations while placing their puppets in all government positions to carry out their dirty work.
ditto to both you Brsinil and Mr. Fidelis. and it’s why should they hire more if they are current receiving their bottom line and that is the problem and if workers slow down, then its the unemployment line.
This administration is in love with Saudi Arabia, othe Midle East Contries and Venezuela.
Thousands of US union jobs have been halted since 2008!
Alaska asks for ConocoPhillips approval
Top Alaska officials are pressing the Obama administration to approve oil-drilling plans submitted by ConocoPhillips in 2008, saying the company’s inability to secure necessary permits will deter other companies from bidding on leases that come up for sale later this year.
In an interview on Friday with Dow Jones, the state’s Department of Natural Resources commissioner said the success of an upcoming lease sale in the Alaska’s National Petroleum Reserve (NPRA) will hinge in part on the federal government’s approval of ConocoPhillips’s permits.

..reminiscing in Minneapolis, we recall a Rock n’ Roll song titled,
” Mac Arthur Park “. The opposition’s over-arching strategy, leaves little room for compromise. We regret it, because it was cooperation that secured prosperity through the second half of the
Twentieth-Century, and it’s not proper to contradict this nation’s manifest destiny, without purpose.
