Operating Engineers’ Counsel Among Picks for NLRB

by Mike Hall, Jan 4, 2012

Operating Engineers (IUOE) General Counsel Richard Griffin is among the three new members of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) President Obama will appoint through recess appointments, the White House announced.

Also named is Sharon Block, currently deputy assistant secretary for congressional affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor. She has served as the senior labor and employment counsel for the Senate HELP Committee. The third member named is Terence F. Flynn, chief counsel to NLRB member Brian Hayes. He also was counsel in the labor and employment law firm Crowell & Moring.

IUOE President James T. Callahan says Griffin is “highly respected by lawyers on both the labor and business side of labor law.”

His fair-minded approach to legal questions is exactly what the NLRB needs….Richard Griffin and the President’s other pick Sharon Block are distinguished attorneys who will bring an even-handed approach to labor and management issues.  They deserve to be seated—and workers and employers deserve a functioning National Labor Relations Board.

There is no even handed approach in these picks. Its one sided. Lets be fair. It is a anti jobs, anti growth, and anti business.

      Troll.

You are proof that we live in upside down, where black is white, and white is black.

If you cared to be informed, note that new NLRB Board Member Terence Flynn served as General Counsel to Member Hayes (the only R on the Board), and is an attorney who had exclusively represented management.

New NLRB Board Member, Sharon Block is a career civil servant, neither representing labor nor management.

The only D appointed is Richard Griffin, who yes had served as General Counsel to the IUOE.

Wow, 1 D, 1 Career Civil Servant, and 1 Management Attorney. Man that’s one-sided if I ever saw it. NOT!!!

But, I guess why should you let facts interfere with your predisposed, uninformed, unintelligent rant????

You know nothing about Cordray. He is the most anti business person in this group. You people are going to lose big time and you do not know it yet. Liberal policies never do what the intend to do. They make things worse in the long run.

The only thing one-sided, Florida Labor Attorney, is Cussbreath’s stupidity! Et al.

It’s great that Obama has found his voice. Lets hope he keeps singing the workers’ tune.

He runs his mouth and it gets worse. Hope and change was a con job and you fell for it. Not only you but everyone who voted for him.

Oh great. They negate each other. Stalemates are worse than being held up in committee. Is this another “I’m a compromiser” move?

Proof that there is absolutely NO level that the corporate ass-wipe Swearto will not crawl down to for his wealthy masters. We all knew that Swearto, groveler that he is, would try to talk on this one. This one really struck home to the corporate thieves that run that pitiful little SCAB!

This is the first time that the NLRB has had a pro labor appointment in many years. As much as I’d been disappointed by Obama’s previous body of work, he sure is beginning to get it now. Great appointments!!

You people need to start ignoring this person. Everytime you acknowledge him/her this person keeps coming back for more.
