Working people hit one right out of Miller Park: Moments ago, they submitted 1 million signatures supporting a recall election of Gov. Scott Walker (R), exceeding the total number of signatures required by 460,000. Walker last year pushed to abolish the rights of public employees to collectively bargain for a middle-class life. Overall, Walker’s policies are killing 18,000 jobs a year in Wisconsin, according to a recent report and more than 27,000 jobs have been lost since he signed the budget last year.
Interestingly, Walker received 1,128,159 votes in his 2010 election.
Working families also turned in 123 percent of the required signatures against Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, who was thought one of the more challenging leaders to recall.
There also are enough signatures to force recall elections for the state’s lieutenant governor and two other state senators. The Wisconsin elections board will need to verify all the signatures.
Phil Neuenfeldt, president of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, said Wisconsinites want to recall Gov. Walker to:
put an end to his disastrous agenda and stop his attacks on working families. Putting corporate allies above the people of Wisconsin has led to months of job loss and a compromised economy.
Walker is giving $2.3 billion in new tax breaks to corporations and his rich cronies.
Stephanie Bloomingdale, secretary-treasurer of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, applauded union and community members whom she said have been gathering signatures “at union halls, grocery stores and bowling allies.”
Last February, when Gov. Walker announced his plan to bust public sector unions and the middle class, a spark was lit and the people of Wisconsin began to take notice of Gov. Walker’s real agenda. This is a governor who crippled the rights of workers, raised taxes on the poor, compromised our children’s education and made it harder for Wisconsinites to vote. The signs are clear, his agenda is not working and the people of Wisconsin won’t stand for two more years of Gov. Walker.

Walker will win. He has the votes. Sorry.
Walker got 1.2 million votes. Nearly the identical amount of recall signatures were submitted. Just as you failed in your blind support, so will your predictions fall flat. The coldness that runs through the veins of rethugs is chilling. But the people have spoken. And you will hear them again really loudly win the recall election sends Walker running.
hotcommodities
When this republican dictator looses the recall. He will get a very cushy job with The Koch Brothers. He has sold his soul to them.
Okay SweartoBullshit in another name, you win. Your comment alone wipes out all of the petitions for recall and you supersede the right to vote on a recall. You win Cussbreath! We recede into our ignorant and unqualified domain as the working class just for you! As in the upcoming movie “Cussbreath’s World” we get down on our knees and bestow humble praise upon you:
“We’re not worthy!”
“We’re not worthy!”
By necessity, those gathering petition signatures were in towns and cities. Now consider all the rural people who are eager to see the Walker administration come to an end!
DHFabian you are correct, and how many people did not sign the petition for fear of retaliation from the walker people, you know store owners and lawyers who will vote in private to defeat the commie regime.
This is the beginning of a nationwide trend. The American people are mad as hell and won’t take it anymore. Before they completely prevent us from voting, we must vote these panderers to the rich out of office.
I do not pay any attention to fortune tellers. Walker is a has-been-wanted-to-be(a jerk) in my opinion.
Recall Walker. Also an idea: when workers strike bypass Taft-Hartley by having nonunion supporters “strike” at other “industries”–occupy supporters may be useful in this regard.
I hope just as many people show up to vote Walker out of office. It would send a strong message to those who would infringe on collective bargaining rights.
I must congratulate the people of Wisconsin. There state has always ranked amoung the best in America for educational standards. There public employees outstanding. So the new Gov. comes along and wants to fire all of them and take away there right to bargen. One million say no. Now get him out and never be taken by likes of a puppet of the big bosses again!
You know, why can’t a person just say I was wrong. One million 1,000,000 that is unheard of in signatures for recall. Oh you may be right, they may not through his sorry a– out but 1,000,000 people in the state say they should. So no matter what, he is done as a effective Gov. You know there are points that are posted on this sight some are right some are wrong. Some points are made so clear that just to take a opposite stand makes one look very stupid. This is one!
…” A “, Hot-Commodities: we’re not tattle-tales, but watch public
T. V. and have seen farmers in India, having to reduce the rice ration to feed their families, because some ” wonk ” in a large
commodity exchange, is haughty as to his own values, and overlooks this person in a faraway land, to achieve his own objective. We hope
your not their agent.
Walker is doing the same thing that many of the other Republican governors are doing and that is to make sure that government, state or federal, is so small and weak that it that it cannot chalenge Corporate America. Corporate America wants to make their profits using the commons of “We The People”, our roads waterways airways, schools, and use up all the natural resources like oil, natural gas, copper, steel, forests resources and water supply. They don’t want any taxes, or regulation, and whenever possible they will raid our tax dollars and even Social Security to pad their extreme wealth. This has been going on since Ronald Reagan was in office.
Here in Arizona we have a Governor named Jan Brewer who is doing the same thing that Walker is doing. Jan Brewer cut $500,000,000 from the state budget so she could give tax cuts to her corporate masters, or “job creators” as she calls them. She cut public education and health care in order to pay for these tax cuts. She was on PBS last night talking about how great the Arizona economy was, but even though the large multinational corporations are making record profits, the “job creators” still havn’t created any jobs. Arizona is one of the worst in the nation for unemployment. For all those who think that Right To Work Laws are so great, just look at Arizona. We are always the last to recover from a recession along with the other Right To Work states.
I think it was Chris Hedges that said “unfettered capitolism is about an economy that canibolizes itself. It turns everything into a commodity, even people”. We as a society need to rethink our economy, tax structure, education, and all of the tools that we will need to make our future great, and time is running out, especially for the inviornment. Corporate America’s vision of that future is a vision of the relationship between master and slave, with those at the top intending to be Master. I believe that we are at a tipping point in America, people are beginning to doubt what they hear from the propaganda machines like Fox News. Certainly the next three elections will decide whether we have a government that serves “We The People” or Corporate Fascism.
The people of Wisconsin are an example for us all! They have seen what the Koch brothers have in store for them and they have said NOOOOO!!!! They have encouraged me to do everything in my power to make Jan Brewer a one term Governor! 1,000,000 signitures, Way to go Wisconsin!!!!
So happy to see the million signatures for Walkers recall.I’m not from Wi. but I’ve kept up with this senario since it started.I live in a backward assed RTW state that’s run by radical right wing Repigs and Douche Baggers.I understand the plight of hard working people of Wi..Same thing has happned here, trying to kill unions, cut teachers pay and bargaining rights, will not allow union dues deducted from their pay cks, will not allow any talk about inions while at work or else br fired, put in place their proposals for teaching children, given state jobs to their private contracting cronies that’s not working and actually a complete failure, cut school programs, cut federal tax money from public schools, given this to private and charter schools that’s not working out as planned, gave tax breaks to corporations and industry, cut medicaid, and the job creators haven’t come through with jobs as predicted.Jayster 24..Chris Hedges was exactly right with his statement about unfettered capatilasim. It’s a lisence to steal. Libris Fidelis is right with his statement of a Global Economy that will lead to a one world government,a one world slave labor work force.
You people are in for a surprise. The taxpayers will get an impact statement later showing them how much money walker is saving them. Unions are costing the taxpayer money. Not to mention the Union dues being paid by union members.
Yes you got the signatures, but every one of those signatures is a taxpayer. Their union dues and additional taxes do not result in a gain in income from any member.
You are so right, Corporate-Communist Dude, Walker is saving the public so much money — by taking it away from them and by bankrupting their government by cutting our government’s legs off! Oh you are so right… your propaganda is way far to the right… way beyond radical right!
While I applaud the people who went out and got all of these signatures, I still wonder how many of these people actually voted in that election. As one of the other commenters stated, now those that signed the petition need to get out and vote, but will they. If they don’t, then Walker stays in office and everyone pays the consequencies of their inaction. So as I see it, it still is an uphill battle to get him out of office.
If anybody wants to see what is costing us, it is not the programs these Repugnant commercial mafia cult Partisans are eliminating, the cost is in Repugnant Party mafiosi cutting our government’s funding while starting illegal $-Trillion wars and inviting corporations to exit our country to begin Globalized commerce.
Reversing those crimes is what will cut costs! And will restore a vibrant thriving economy that HIRES people domestically, not EXPORTS prosperity to other countries where the people are so enslaved in poverty and tyranny that they cannot benefit from THEIR improved “economics” of Globalization slavery !
Can anyone even imagine having the likes of Romney as the leader of our nation? The man hasn’t one damn clue about middle/lower income, poor, and elderly Americans. The man was born with a silver spoon up his arse and one in his mouth. When I watched heard his reaction and statements to one of the 99%er’s last night on the news,I hoped someone would’ve Jap slapped the sob. This man has raped businesses, stolen all their assets from these company’s,stolen the workers retirement funds then turned the broke fund over to the government, closed plants and factorys moving many of them to China and other country’s,caused hundreds if not thousands of people to lose everything and have to take bankruptcy. Yet he stands before the nation and lies.He won’t release tax records for a reason, buying time so his tax lawyers can doctor and cover up his earnings, his off shore money and how he’s cheated the government out of thouands if not millions of tax dollars. What this sob didn’t pay ended up coming from our pockets. The man is a joke,a liar, and would lead this country down the road of corporate destruction.
It is a triumph worthy of the “King” legacy. See the following:
